IPL Auction 2025: 72 Players Sold for ₹467.95 Crore on Day 1

 

Jeddah :  The first day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction concluded in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with a significant focus on Indian players. Out of 84 players who were up for bidding, 72 were sold for a total of ₹467.95 crore, while 12 players, including big names like Devdutt Padikkal, Jonny Bairstow, and David Warner, went unsold.

Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer fetched record-breaking prices. Shreyas was bought by Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore, becoming the most expensive player in IPL history at that moment. However, shortly after, Rishabh Pant was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 crore, setting a new record. Both surpassed the previous record of ₹25 crore set by Mitchell Starc last year.

Apart from Pant and Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer was also a hot pick, bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for ₹23.75 crore. Indian pacers Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal fetched ₹18 crore each from Punjab Kings, while KL Rahul was purchased by Delhi Capitals for ₹14 crore. Several uncapped players, such as Nehal Wadhera, Suyash Sharma, and Abdul Samad, also received lucrative deals.

Josh Hazlewood: Bought by RCB for ₹12.50 crore.
Prasidh Krishna: Acquired by Gujarat Titans for ₹9.50 crore.
Trent Boult: Mumbai Indians secured him for ₹12.50 crore.
Uncapped Players:
Nehal Wadhera: Punjab Kings bought him for ₹4.20 crore.
Abdul Samad: Lucknow secured him for ₹4.20 crore.
