JMM executive president Hemant Soren takes oath as Chief Minister of Jharkhand
Ranchi : Hemant Soren took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand just before 5 pm on Thursday (July 4). Governor CP Radhakrishnan had appointed Hemant Soren, working president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and leader of the legislature party of JMM-Congress-RJD-Left alliance, as the designated Chief Minister. He was also invited to take oath.
JMM had said that Hemant Soren will take oath on July 7, but after some time it was told that Hemant Soren is taking oath today itself. Hemant Soren has now become the 13th Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Shibu Soren and Champai Soren also attended his oath ceremony.
This will be the third time that Hemant Soren will take oath as CM. He became CM for the first time in 2013. After this, in 2019, JMM-Congress-RJD alliance contested the elections under the leadership of Hemant Soren and he became CM for the second time. Hemant Soren will be the third leader to take oath as CM in Jharkhand thrice.
Before this, his father Shibu Soren and BJP’s Arjun Munda had taken oath as CM thrice each. On January 31 this year, when Hemant Soren was arrested by ED in the money laundering case related to the land scam, he had resigned from the post of CM.
