Nitin Nabin Announces New BJP Team, Vasundhara Raje, Ram Madhav and Smriti Irani Get Key Responsibilities

Major Reshuffle in BJP’s National Organisation, 13 National Vice Presidents and 8 General Secretaries Appointed

New Delhi, August 17, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday announced its new national team, with several senior leaders being assigned key organisational responsibilities. The new team was announced by BJP National President Nitin Nabin, with all appointments taking effect immediately, according to the party’s press release dated August 17.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav have been appointed National Vice Presidents. Former Union Minister Smriti Irani has been given the responsibility of National General Secretary.

13 Leaders Appointed National Vice Presidents

The BJP has appointed 13 leaders as National Vice Presidents. Apart from Vasundhara Raje and Ram Madhav, the list includes former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, Baijayant Jay Panda, D. Purandeswari, Rekha Verma, Varshaben Narendrabhai Doshi, Bharti Pravin Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal, Lal Singh Arya, M. Nagaraja, Tariq Mansoor and Madhuchandra Kar.

Smriti Irani Among Eight National General Secretaries

The party has also appointed eight National General Secretaries. Along with Smriti Irani, the list includes Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, Biplab Kumar Deb, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia.

BJP’s organisational secretary B. L. Santosh will continue as National General Secretary (Organisation). Meanwhile, Shiv Prakash and Saudan Singh have been appointed National Joint General Secretaries (Organisation).

Piyush Goyal Appointed National Treasurer

The BJP has also announced appointments to key financial positions. Piyush Goyal has been appointed National Treasurer, while Rajesh Mangal has been made National Joint Treasurer.

The party has also assigned responsibilities in its organisational and outreach wings. Sambit Patra has been appointed North-East Coordinator, while Tarun Chugh has been given charge of the Central Office.

Focus on Strengthening the National Organisation

The BJP’s new national team brings together experienced leaders while giving representation to leaders from different states and regions. The appointments are aimed at strengthening the party’s national organisational structure, improving coordination across regions and making organisational activities more effective.

With the announcement of the new team, the BJP has restructured key responsibilities at the national level. The newly appointed leaders are expected to play an important role in expanding the organisation and advancing the party’s political and organisational activities.
