Notorious Criminal from Kasganj, Active in UP, Haryana, and Delhi, Injured in Police Encounter
Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): In a late-night police encounter on Wednesday, the Indirapuram police arrested a notorious criminal who had broken into a jewelry shop and stolen 4 kg of silver and 3 grams of gold. The criminal, injured by a police bullet, has been admitted to the hospital. The police recovered an illegal firearm, one spent cartridge, one live cartridge, two melted silver pieces, and a stolen car with a fake number plate used in the crime. The theft was carried out on March 21.
The arrested criminal has been identified as Ankit Saxena alias Bablu alias Vijay Saxena, a resident of Kasganj.
Police Operation & Encounter
According to ACP Abhishek Srivastava, the Indirapuram police were conducting intensive vehicle checks at night to prevent loot and theft incidents in Vasundhara. During the operation, a grey-colored car approached Hindon Barrage Pulia, Vasundhara Sector-1. Upon spotting the police, the driver tried to flee but lost control, and the car crashed into a divider.
As the driver attempted to escape on foot, the police chased him. In an attempt to evade arrest, he fired at the police team with the intent to kill. The police retaliated, and the accused was shot in the leg, bringing him down. He was immediately taken into custody and provided medical attention.
Confession & Criminal History
During interrogation, Ankit Saxena confessed to committing the March 21 burglary at Ambe Jewelers, Vasundhara, along with other thefts. He revealed that his accomplices included Rajveer Singh Chauhan from Officers Colony, Railway Road, Ujhani, Budaun, and two others whose identities are unknown. Rajveer had melted the stolen silver, and the two recovered silver pieces from the car’s dashboard were Ankit’s share.
He admitted that he had returned to Vasundhara that night to scout potential targets for another burglary.
Ankit Saxena has a criminal record of over a dozen cases, including robbery, attempted murder, dacoity, and fraud, registered in Kasganj (Uttar Pradesh) and Gurugram (Haryana).
