Organizational Reshuffle in Trinamool Congress Likely, Final Decision to be Taken by CM Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata (West Bengal) : The much-anticipated organizational reshuffle in the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is expected to take place in the first or second week of February. The final decision on the matter will be taken by party supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

According to party sources, the Chief Minister is likely to give her final approval to the proposed reshuffle after Saraswati Puja in the first week of February.

A senior party leader and cabinet member, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed, “In internal party meetings, the Chief Minister has made it clear that her decisions will remain final on all organizational and internal matters for at least the next ten years. Therefore, her approval will be decisive for this reshuffle as well.”

Political analysts believe that Mamata Banerjee’s unequivocal stance is aimed at resolving the ongoing debate within the TMC between “old faces” and “new faces.”

TMC General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee has already submitted his recommendations for the reshuffle to the Chief Minister. February will reveal how many of his suggestions receive approval.

Party insiders further revealed that, apart from the organizational reshuffle, Abhishek Banerjee has proposed significant changes at the municipal level. This includes urban bodies where the BJP outperformed the TMC in the previous Lok Sabha elections.

Consequently, there is a possibility of leadership changes in at least 69 municipalities across the state, as BJP secured more votes than TMC in these areas during the Lok Sabha elections. However, the extent to which Abhishek Banerjee’s recommendations will be implemented remains dependent on the Chief Minister’s decision.
