Uproar Over Kuldeep Singh Senger’s Bail: Women Demand Justice

New Delhi: A wave of protests erupted outside the Delhi High Court on Friday following the conditional bail granted to Kuldeep Singh Senger, the BJP leader expelled in connection with the Unnao rape case. Demonstrators gathered near the court premises, raising slogans against the bail order and demanding justice for the victim and her family, who fear that Senger’s sentence suspension undermines accountability.

The protest was largely led by women, who voiced strong opposition to the High Court’s decision to suspend Senger’s jail term. Heavy police deployment was in place to maintain law and order, and demonstrators were urged to remain peaceful. Addressing the gathering, women’s rights activist Yogita Bhayana described the protest as a peaceful appeal against what they see as gross injustice.

She said, “We have come to the High Court to peacefully demand that the injustice done to our daughter be rectified and our plea be heard. If justice is not delivered, we will protest, and it is our right to do so.”

Congress leader Mumtaz Patel also criticized the bail order, calling it a dangerous precedent. She stated, “This is a major blow. Granting relief to Senger on a technical loophole not only shakes the confidence of the victim’s family but undermines trust among women across the country.”

The victim’s mother, visibly emotional, rejected the bail plea outright and announced plans to approach the Supreme Court. She said, “His bail petition should be dismissed. We will knock on the Supreme Court’s door. Our faith in the High Court has been shaken. If we do not get justice there, we may have to look elsewhere.” She also demanded strict punishment in the case of her husband’s custodial death.

Recently, the Delhi High Court suspended the sentence of Kuldeep Singh Senger in the 2017 Unnao rape case. Senger had been sentenced to life imprisonment by a CBI court in Delhi for raping a minor. His appeal against the sentence is currently pending in the High Court.
