Positive Signals from Global Markets for Fifth Consecutive Day, Mixed Trading in Asia

New Delhi: For the fifth consecutive day, global markets are showing positive signals. The previous session in the U.S. markets witnessed enthusiasm, resulting in Wall Street indices closing in the green. Dow Jones Futures is also trading with a slight gain. Similarly, European markets continued to experience buying in the previous session. However, Asian markets are displaying mixed trading trends today.

Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement at Davos, crude oil prices declined, further boosting sentiment in the U.S. markets. During the previous session, Wall Street indices maintained an upward trend. The S&P 500 index closed with a 0.51% gain at 6,117.22 points, while the Nasdaq ended 0.17% higher at 20,043.08 points. Dow Jones Futures is currently trading at 44,567.67 points, with a marginal gain of 0.01%.

Similar to the U.S. markets, European markets also exhibited enthusiasm in the previous session. The FTSE index rose 0.23% to close at 8,565.20 points. The CAC index ended the session with a 0.70% gain, reaching 7,892.61 points. Meanwhile, the DAX index climbed 157.26 points, or 0.73%, to close at 21,411.53 points.

Asian markets, however, are trading mixed today. Out of the nine Asian markets, indices in four are trading in the green, while four are in the red. Due to a holiday, there was no activity in the Taiwan Weighted Index. GIFT Nifty is currently down by 98 points, or 0.42%, trading at 23,159 points. The Jakarta Composite Index has slipped 0.26% to 7,213.69 points. Similarly, the Straits Times Index has dropped 0.08% to 3,803.69 points, and the Nikkei Index is down 0.07%, trading at 39,929.50 points.

On the other hand, the Kospi Index is trading 0.51% higher at 2,528.26 points. The SET Composite Index has risen 0.10% to 1,345.56 points. A notable surge is visible in the Hang Seng Index, which is currently up by 356.90 points, or 1.78%, trading at 20,057.46 points. Additionally, the Shanghai Composite Index is trading with a 0.73% gain at 3,253.79 points.
