Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana Launched in Delhi; CM Distributes Cards to Senior Citizens

New Delhi :  Launching the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri distributed health cards to senior citizens of the capital on Monday. The first card was handed over to Ram Singh Negi, followed by Ved Singh and Rajendra Kumar, among others. The main distribution ceremony was held at Delhi’s Thyagaraj Stadium.

The event was attended by all ministers of the Delhi government, all BJP MPs from Delhi, Assembly Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, and Deputy Mayor Jai Bhagwan Yadav.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this was the first major initiative under the “Triple Engine” government.
She stated, “Today, Delhi’s senior citizens are getting a new lease on life. They no longer need to worry or feel helpless regarding healthcare and treatment. With the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card, they receive both respect and health security. Our senior citizens are no longer a burden; they are the pride of the nation.”

Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card provides free healthcare benefits to senior citizens aged 70 years and above. Beneficiaries will receive annual health coverage of up to ₹10 lakh at hospitals empaneled under AB PM-JAY.

Delhi officially implemented the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY in April 2025, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Health Authority (NHA) on April 5, 2025. The distribution of AB PM-JAY cards began on April 10, 2025, and the distribution of the PM Vaya Vandana Yojana cards started from April 28, 2025.

Eligibility:
All senior citizens aged 70 years and above are eligible for the card, regardless of their socio-economic status, provided they are not covered under any other government healthcare scheme.

Registration Process:
Eligible individuals can enroll for and download the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card through the following methods:

Ayushman App: Download the Ayushman app from Google Play Store, log in as a beneficiary, complete the e-KYC process, and submit the form. Once approved, the card can be downloaded directly from the app.

AB PM-JAY Portal: Visit the official AB PM-JAY website or the Ayushman Vaya Vandana portal, log in or register, complete the e-KYC process, and submit the form. Upon approval, the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card can be downloaded.
