BJP Leaders Protest Against AAP MLA’s Statement on Quran
New Delhi: The BJP Minority Morcha staged a protest outside the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday, demanding the arrest and expulsion of AAP MLA Naresh Yadav for allegedly disrespecting the Quran. The protest saw the participation of Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, and other BJP leaders.
During the protest, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said, “India is a nation where people of all religions coexist and practice their faith with mutual respect. However, AAP MLA Naresh Yadav has disrespected the Holy Quran. He has been convicted by the Malerkotla Court in Punjab, yet the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann remains silent on the matter.”
Sachdeva criticized the INDIA alliance, alleging that none of its leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, and Asaduddin Owaisi, have spoken out about the incident. He accused them of treating the Muslim community merely as a vote bank.
“If a BJP leader had done something similar, there would have been an uproar across the country by now. But since Naresh Yadav is an AAP leader, there is complete silence. Arvind Kejriwal maintains a hypocritical stance, which BJP leaders are exposing through this protest,” he added.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, also criticized Kejriwal, stating, “When it comes to seeking votes, AAP approaches everyone, but when it comes to action, they betray the people of Delhi. Despite having a government and police in Punjab, where this incident took place, Kejriwal has said nothing about it.”
Gupta demanded accountability from Kejriwal, urging him to provide a ten-year record of his governance in Delhi and ensure punishment for the MLA responsible for disrespecting the Quran.
The protest highlighted BJP’s demand for strict action against Naresh Yadav and accused AAP of failing to uphold respect for religious sentiments.
