Consul General Interacts with Friends of India and Indian Community Members in Eastern China

Shanghai (China) : Consul General Shri Pratik Mathur held a series of interactions with a cross-section of Friends of India in China as well as members of the vibrant Indian diaspora community, reflecting the growing depth and diversity of India-China people-to-people exchanges and the expanding global profile of New India.

On the occasion of Vesak, Consul General met and conveyed his greetings and best wishes to Shri Vikas Kumar and Shri Harsh Kumar, young Buddhist monks from New Delhi currently pursuing their studies in Nanjing. The interaction highlighted the enduring civilizational and cultural links between India and China through the shared Buddhist heritage.

Consul General also met Mr. Chik Chun Ming, Head of International Business Development at Forbes China. Discussions focused on India’s strong economic growth trajectory, its increasing role as a driver of regional economic development, and the country’s contribution towards building resilient and diversified global supply chains.

During his interaction with Ms. Zhang Mi, Founder and Director of a Yongkang-based stainless steel enterprise, Consul General discussed the growing importance of the Indian market for global manufacturers and explored opportunities arising from India’s rapid economic expansion and green development initiatives.

Consul General further met Shri Nirose Parambathkandy, President of the Keralam Committee in Yiwu. The discussions focused on future community outreach initiatives, cultural activities, and efforts to further strengthen bonds within the Indian diaspora while promoting the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

The interactions underscored the continued strengthening of India’s engagement with friends of India, business leaders, cultural stakeholders, and the Indian community in Eastern China.
