Durban: In the first match of the four-match T20 series between India and South Africa, India secured a comfortable victory, defeating South Africa by 61 runs. The match, held in Durban, saw Sanju Samson emerge as the hero with a spectacular century off 47 balls.
Chasing a target of 203 runs set by India, South Africa struggled from the start. Captain Aiden Markram was dismissed for just 8 runs, followed by Tristan Stubbs (11), Ryan Rickelton (21), Heinrich Klaasen (25), David Miller (18), and Marco Jansen (12). The home team was bowled out for 141 runs in 17.5 overs. For India, Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi each took three wickets, while Avesh Khan picked up two and Arshdeep Singh claimed one.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being put in to bat, the Indian team posted a strong total of 202 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson scored an outstanding 107 runs from 50 balls, hitting seven fours and ten sixes. Tilak Varma contributed 33 runs, and captain Suryakumar Yadav added 21 runs. For South Africa, Gerald Coetzee was the top bowler with three wickets, while Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Patrick Kruger, and Nkabyo Peter each took one wicket.
