Delhi Election Results 2025: BJP Secures Majority in Early Trends, Kejriwal, Sisodia, and Atishi Trailing

New Delhi: In the early trends of the Delhi Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading on 24 seats, while Congress is ahead in just one seat. A major upset is visible as top AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Atishi, are trailing in their respective constituencies. Notably, BJP’s Parvesh Verma is leading from the New Delhi seat.

As the Delhi Assembly election results are being declared today, early trends indicate a significant setback for the Aam Aadmi Party. So far, trends from around 60 seats have emerged, showing that AAP is lagging behind, while the BJP has surged ahead with 37 seats, crossing the majority mark. Meanwhile, AAP is leading on 23 seats, and Congress is ahead on just one seat.

Major Leaders Facing Defeat
One of the biggest surprises in the early trends is the trailing of prominent AAP leaders – Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Atishi. BJP’s Parvesh Verma is currently leading from the prestigious New Delhi seat.

Manish Sisodia had changed his constituency for the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections, contesting from Jangpura against BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress candidate Farhad Suri. Previously, he had won from Patparganj in 2013, 2015, and 2020. In 2013, he defeated BJP candidate Nakul Bhardwaj by 11,476 votes in his first electoral victory from Patparganj.

Counting Process and Security Arrangements
The counting of votes for all 70 Delhi Assembly seats began on Saturday morning at 19 counting centers across the national capital, under tight security measures.

Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, Alice Vaz, stated that 5,000 personnel, including counting supervisors, micro-observers, and trained support staff, have been deployed for the counting process.

As per election regulations, the counting of postal ballots began first, followed by the counting of votes recorded in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) after 30 minutes. Afterward, the counting of postal ballots and EVM votes continued simultaneously.

Since 2019, for greater transparency, five randomly selected polling stations in each constituency have their VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) slips matched with EVM results.

With the BJP crossing the majority mark, all eyes are now on the final results and the fate of Delhi’s leadership.
