Delhi Government Announces Work From Home for Employees Amid Rising Pollution Levels

New Delhi: The worsening air quality in the national capital has prompted the Delhi government to take drastic measures to protect its residents. Amid ongoing restrictions to curb pollution, the Delhi government has announced a work-from-home policy for its employees in response to the hazardous smog enveloping the city.

Delhi’s Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, announced the decision on social media platform X today. He stated, “To reduce pollution, the Delhi government has decided to implement work from home for 50% of its employees. A meeting will be held at 1 PM today at the Secretariat with officials to finalize the implementation details.”

This decision follows Minister Rai’s appeal to Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav in a letter sent earlier this week. Rai highlighted that after discussions with experts, it became evident that artificial rain might be necessary to break the persistent smog blanket.

The move is expected to ease vehicular pollution caused by daily commuting and serve as an immediate relief measure while long-term solutions are considered. The government’s proactive steps underscore the urgency of addressing the city’s critical pollution levels.
