Delhi LG Grants Prosecution Approval Against Kejriwal in Excise Policy Case

New Delhi : Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) V.K. Saxena has granted approval to prosecute Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged excise policy scam. This information was shared by the LG’s office.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had sought permission on December 5 to prosecute Kejriwal in the case. The ED has alleged irregularities and corruption in the excise policy and emphasized the need to investigate Kejriwal’s role in the matter.

The AAP government has already faced significant controversy over the excise policy, with several party leaders accused in the case. With the LG’s approval, the ED can now proceed with legal action against Kejriwal.

Background:
The contentious Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 faced allegations of irregularities and corruption. Investigating agencies claim the policy provided undue advantages to private companies.

AAP’s Response:
The Aam Aadmi Party has dismissed the move as a political conspiracy, alleging it is an attempt by the BJP-led central government to target opposition leaders.

The legal proceedings will now unfold, and it remains to be seen how Kejriwal responds to this development.
