Kolkata Metro’s Special Initiative for Christmas: Metro to Run Late Night on Dumdum to Kavi Subhash Route
Kolkata (West Bengal): On Christmas, December 25th, Kolkata Metro has made changes to the timing of the last train on the Blue Line. As every year, a large number of people will gather at Park Street to celebrate Christmas, where the state government is organizing the ‘Kolkata Christmas Festival 2024’. To cater to the convenience of passengers, the Metro Rail Authority has made special arrangements on the Blue Line.
On Christmas Day, the last metro from Dumdum to Kavi Subhash will depart at 11:00 PM, while the last train from Dakshineswar to Kavi Subhash will depart at 10:53 PM. Similarly, the last metro from Kavi Subhash to Dakshineswar will leave at 10:49 PM.
Between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Christmas Day, metros on the Blue Line will run at a frequency of every seven minutes. A total of 224 metro services will be available on this route, with 112 trains going up and 112 going down. However, the special metro that usually operates at 10:40 PM on the Blue Line will not run on Christmas Day.
No Changes in Green Line Services
There will be no changes in the services on the Green Line, i.e., from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector-5. Typically, there are 106 metro services available on this route, but on Christmas Day, 90 services will run at 20-minute intervals. Similarly, there will be no changes in the train timings on the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade route, Purple Line, and Orange Line.
No Changes in Morning Timings
The metro services from South Howrah to Kavi Subhash, Kavi Subhash to Dumdum, and Tollygunge to Dakshineswar will start at 6:50 AM. The first metro from Dakshineswar to Kavi Subhash will depart at 6:55 AM. There are no changes to these timings.
