Noida Authority Sees Surge in Tenders Worth Hundreds of Crores Across Work Circles
Noida (UP): After a prolonged period of restrictions on contract approvals, the Noida Authority is witnessing a massive surge in the issuance of development tenders, with projects worth hundreds of crores of rupees being awarded across various work circles. The development has led to heightened activity within the authority, with contractors and officials actively engaged in the tendering process.
According to sources, Work Circle-1 and Work Circle-2 alone account for tenders worth nearly ₹1,500 crore. The sudden increase in project approvals has sparked discussions in administrative and construction circles, as large-scale development works that had remained pending for nearly two years are now moving forward at a rapid pace.
The current situation stands in contrast to the tenure of former Chief Executive Officer Dr. Lokesh M, who had imposed restrictions on the tender-issuing powers of engineers and Additional Chief Executive Officers after raising concerns about the volume and nature of proposed development works. During a review meeting, officials from different work circles were asked to submit lists of ongoing and proposed projects. While most engineers presented lists containing 30 to 40 projects, one engineer reportedly submitted a list of 115 proposed works, prompting concerns and leading to a review of the tendering process.
The restrictions significantly slowed the release of new tenders and development projects. However, after the appointment of the current Chief Executive Officer, Krishna Karunesh, the restrictions were lifted, allowing long-pending infrastructure and development works to resume.
Officials maintain that the renewed pace of tender issuance is aimed at accelerating development and completing delayed projects. At the same time, observers stress the importance of maintaining transparency and accountability as large public funds are being allocated through the tendering process.
With hundreds of crores worth of contracts being awarded and development activities gathering momentum, the Noida Authority’s tender drive is expected to remain under close scrutiny from stakeholders, contractors, and residents alike.
