Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart to Boost Domestic Tourism, Expand Beyond the Golden Triangle

6th Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart to be held in Jaipur from September 17–19, First-Ever Marwar Travel Mart to take place in Jodhpur from September 20–22

Jaipur: Rajasthan is set to take a major step toward expanding its domestic tourism footprint by showcasing destinations beyond the traditional Jaipur–Jodhpur–Udaipur Golden Triangle. As part of this strategy, the state will host the 6th Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart (RDTM) in Jaipur, followed by the first-ever Marwar Travel Mart (MTM) in Jodhpur.

The events aim to connect Rajasthan’s lesser-known destinations, rural tourism circuits, and unique travel experiences with India’s growing domestic travel market. Moving beyond the traditional focus on “what to see,” the state is now promoting “what to experience,” highlighting immersive tourism offerings.

Organized jointly by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, and the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR), the 6th RDTM will be held from September 17 to 19, 2026, at the B.M. Birla Convention Centre, Jaipur. The inaugural Marwar Travel Mart will follow in Jodhpur from September 20 to 22, 2026. Both events will be held under the theme “Stories, Journeys, Smiles.”

More than 300 stakeholders from the tourism and hospitality industry across India are expected to participate in RDTM, while the Marwar Travel Mart is likely to host around 125 national travel trade representatives.

During the curtain raiser event in Jaipur, the Rajasthan Tourism Department and FHTR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the organization of the two events. The partnership aims to strengthen Rajasthan’s presence in the domestic travel market and promote emerging tourism products across the country.

Strengthening Domestic Tourism

With domestic travel becoming a key pillar of India’s tourism growth, Rajasthan is positioning RDTM as a platform to support national campaigns such as “Dekho Apna Desh” and “Wedding in India.” The event will bring together leading tourism organizations and travel industry stakeholders to connect Rajasthan’s tourism products with national travel networks.

Tourism Secretary Shuchi Tyagi said that today’s travelers seek immersive and memorable experiences rather than simply visiting tourist attractions. She emphasized the need to develop high-quality experiential tourism in collaboration with the private sector while promoting wildlife, wellness, adventure tourism, and lesser-known destinations through improved infrastructure and connectivity.

Tourism as a Driver of Jobs and Investment

Tourism Commissioner Rukmani Riyad said that such travel marts play a vital role in strengthening domestic tourism. She announced that after Jodhpur, the next travel mart will be organized in Udaipur. She also highlighted the government’s efforts to preserve Shekhawati’s architectural heritage and introduce financial incentives for promoting homestays.

She noted that more than 20,000 B2B meetings were held during the previous RDTM, while this year’s edition is expected to facilitate over 25,000 business meetings. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari, Rajasthan is focusing on linking tourism with employment, local livelihoods, and investment while promoting both established and emerging destinations in domestic and international markets.

Spotlight on Marwar and Emerging Destinations

FHTR President Surendra Singh Shahpura stressed the need to integrate fairs, festivals, polo heritage, and Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities into mainstream travel itineraries. He also proposed developing Bandikui as a “Railway Heritage City.”

Marwar Travel Mart Chairman J.M. Boob said the event would showcase Marwar’s wildlife, handicrafts, folk music, and rich cultural heritage as unique tourism products.

FHTR Secretary General Tarun Kumar Bansal said RDTM will serve as a major B2B networking platform connecting Rajasthan’s tourism stakeholders with travel trade professionals from across India, while the Marwar Travel Mart will focus on promoting the tourism potential of western Rajasthan to the national market.
