Following the historic victory, attention has shifted to the record prize money awarded to the newly crowned world champions. Spain received an estimated ₹481 crore (approximately US$56 million) as the winner’s prize. The amount has drawn widespread attention, as it is reportedly higher than the estimated ₹400–600 crore net worth of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Argentina Also Receives a Significant Reward

Despite finishing as runners-up, Argentina also earned a substantial financial reward. Lionel Messi’s side received approximately ₹318 crore in prize money, reflecting FIFA’s generous rewards for top-performing teams.

England and France Also Earned Hundreds of Crores

England, which finished third, received more than ₹280 crore, while fourth-placed France was awarded around ₹260 crore. The figures underline the significant financial incentives available to the top four teams at the FIFA World Cup.

Prize Money Has Increased Dramatically Over the Years

The FIFA World Cup prize pool has witnessed remarkable growth over the past decade and a half. In 2010, the tournament winner received around ₹290 crore, whereas the latest edition awarded approximately ₹481 crore to the champions—an increase of nearly ₹200 crore over 16 years.

Sports analysts believe that with football’s ever-growing global popularity, rising broadcasting revenues, and expanding commercial partnerships, FIFA World Cup prize money is likely to increase even further in future editions.
