Youth Delegation Explores Democratic Institutions during Visit to Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly

Itanagar : A contingent of 37 youth participants under the Inter State Youth Exchange Programme of MY Bharat, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, visited the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly as part of their educational and cultural exposure tour to the state.
The Inter State Youth Exchange Programme aims to foster national integration, cultural exchange, and democratic awareness among youth by enabling them to experience the social, cultural, and administrative systems of different states. The initiative promotes mutual respect, understanding, and the spirit of unity in diversity among young citizens of the country.
During the visit, the delegation had the privilege of interacting with Tesam Pongte, Hon’ble Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Addressing the participants, the Hon’ble Speaker emphasized that Arunachal Pradesh is home to rich tribal and cultural diversity and stands as a true reflection of India’s unity and oneness. He highlighted that despite geographical distances and cultural variations, the spirit of national unity binds the country together.
He encouraged the youth to visit remote villages of Arunachal Pradesh to gain firsthand experience of indigenous traditions, customs, and the vibrant lifestyle of various tribal communities. He urged them to carry forward the message of national integration and democratic responsibility in their respective states.
The contingent also visited the Assembly Library and Museum, where they were acquainted with the legislative history, parliamentary practices, and functioning of the state legislature, thereby deepening their understanding of democratic governance.
Chau Zingnu Namchum, Hon’ble MLA and Advisor to the Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Arunachal Pradesh, facilitated the visit and lunch in the assembly extending his support to the objectives of the youth exchange initiative.
On behalf of MY Bharat, Shri Gopesh Pandey, Deputy Director, presented a token of appreciation to the Hon’ble Speaker as a gesture of gratitude. In his statement, Shri Pandey said that such institutional exposure visits play a vital role in shaping informed, responsible, and socially conscious youth. He emphasized that interaction with constitutional authorities and legislative institutions strengthens democratic values and inspires young people to actively participate in nation-building.
Shri Pawan Kumar Rao, District Youth Officer, encouraged the participants to make meaningful use of the lear2ning experience and to serve as ambassadors of unity and cultural harmony. Shri Bhargav Bhuyan and Shri Sujan Thakur were also present and extended their support in the successful coordination of the programme. The visit proved to be a significant democratic learning experience and further strengthened the bonds of cultural understanding, national unity, and youth engagement.
