Consulate General of India in Shanghai Celebrates International Day of Yoga 2026 in Hangzhou

Hangzhou (China) : As part of the culmination of International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 celebrations, Consul General of India in Shanghai, Shri Pratik Mathur, participated in a special Yoga event organized at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) campus in Hangzhou on June 20, 2026. The event brought together over 200 participants from diverse nationalities and backgrounds, reflecting the global appeal of Yoga as a holistic practice for health and well-being.
Addressing the gathering, the Consul General highlighted the significance of International Day of Yoga, which is being celebrated worldwide under the guidance of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), with the support of Indian Missions and Posts abroad. He underscored Yoga’s role in promoting physical, mental and emotional well-being and its growing relevance in contemporary society.
The event was organized in line with the theme of IDY 2026, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” encouraging participants to integrate Yoga and AYUSH practices into their daily lives. Attendees also took a pledge to embrace Yoga@365, reaffirming their commitment to regular Yoga practice and healthy living.
The Consul General also welcomed the enthusiastic support of the Indian diaspora, Yoga practitioners and friends of India towards the flagship International Day of Yoga celebrations being organized on June 21, 2026, at Shanghai’s historic Bund waterfront. He noted that such events further strengthen people-to-people ties between India and China while showcasing India’s rich civilizational heritage and its enduring cultural links with the region.
