‘Royal Rajasthan’ Roadshow in Tokyo Invites Japanese Tourists to Experience India’s Heritage

Jaipur/Tokyo: Rajasthan is set to deepen its relationship with Japan through tourism, as the recently held ‘Royal Rajasthan: Celebrating India’s Heritage, Culture and Tourism’ roadshow in Tokyo showcased the state’s rich cultural and tourism potential to the Japanese travel industry.

The event, jointly organised by the Embassy of India in Japan and the Rajasthan Tourism Department, presented a renewed image of Rajasthan as a premier international tourism destination. Officials of the Rajasthan Tourism Department participated virtually in the programme.

Deputy CM Diya Kumari Invites Japanese Visitors

The highlight of the event was a special video message by Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari, who invited the people of Japan to visit Rajasthan.

“The forts, palaces, UNESCO World Heritage sites, vibrant culture, wildlife, spiritual destinations and royal hospitality of Rajasthan attract visitors from across the world. We warmly invite Japanese tourists to experience the unique charm of our state,” she said.

Tourism Promotion in Key International Markets

The Rajasthan government has intensified its overseas tourism outreach in recent years, and the Tokyo roadshow is being seen as an important milestone in that strategy. The tourism department aims to strengthen Rajasthan’s presence in major international markets such as Japan and increase tourist arrivals from the country.

Japanese travellers are known for their keen interest in history, heritage and local culture, making Rajasthan one of India’s most attractive destinations for them. The roadshow therefore highlighted:

  • UNESCO World Heritage sites
  • Buddhist tourism circuits
  • Luxury hotels and heritage stays

  • Wildlife tourism

Investment and Tourism Opportunities Presented

The programme began with a welcome address by Nagma Mohamed Mallick, India’s Ambassador to Japan. A promotional film on Rajasthan was screened, followed by a detailed presentation by Anand Tripathi, Senior Additional Director of the Rajasthan Tourism Department.

Through video conferencing, Tripathi shared information on:

  • Tourism investment opportunities
  • Homestay initiatives
  • Tourism Unit Policy 2024
  • Infrastructure improvements in the tourism sector

Japanese Tour Operators Show Growing Interest

Leading Japanese tour operators participating in the roadshow said that Rajasthan is rapidly gaining popularity among Japanese travellers. They noted that special travel packages are being designed to match the preferences of Japanese tourists.

Representatives from Rajasthan’s hotel and tourism industry also joined the event virtually. Business networking sessions between tourism stakeholders from India and Japan explored possibilities for future collaboration and investment.

The event concluded with a captivating performance of Rajasthan’s famous Kalbelia folk dance, leaving a strong impression on the audience.

The Tokyo roadshow reaffirmed that Rajasthan is moving beyond traditional heritage promotion and is actively building tourism partnerships with countries across the world. The growing collaboration with Japan is expected to give a significant boost to Rajasthan’s tourism sector in the coming years.
