Celebrating Brokpa Heritage at 15,000 Feet: Indian Army Organises Yak Mela at Groleteng
Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh) : In a vibrant celebration of the rich cultural heritage and resilient spirit of the Brokpa community, the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps organised a grand Yak Mela today at Groleteng, situated at an altitude of nearly 15,000 feet near the sacred Taktsang Gonpa.
The event was graced by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 5 Mountain Division, Major General Amit Nautiyal, SM, VSM, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tawang, Rinchin Leta, Commander, Tawang Brigade, Brigadier Bhupal Singh, SM, senior officers from the Army and Civil Administration, representatives of paramilitary forces, Gaon Burahs, and members of the Brokpa community.
Addressing the gathering, Major General Amit Nautiyal expressed his immense happiness at witnessing the enthusiasm, resilience, and indomitable spirit of the Brokpa people living in the remote border areas. He lauded their unwavering courage and invaluable support to the security forces despite the challenging terrain and harsh climatic conditions.
The GOC reiterated that the Indian Army remains firmly committed not only to safeguarding the nation’s frontiers but also to the socio-economic development and welfare of the people residing in these strategically important border regions. He assured the community of the Army’s continued cooperation in improving livelihoods and creating better opportunities for future generations.
Extending his best wishes for the prosperity and well-being of the Brokpa community, he appealed to them to continue extending their wholehearted support to all security agencies
